Exclusive Interview with Japanese Financial Media
[AI-Powered Smart Factory Management]
Grade Upon Technology Corp. has developed a revolutionary system enabling fully automated factory operations. Through Artificial Intelligence (AI), factory management can be handled without human intervention. The company, based in Zhubei, Taiwan, has introduced an AI-integrated control box that is currently utilized by some of the world’s leading semiconductor and LCD manufacturers in Taiwan. This compact device encompasses all essential elements for unmanned operation. Key features include remote control of manufacturing equipment, AI-driven deep learning similar to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for equipment operation, and comprehensive sensor management (temperature, humidity, pressure, vibration, flow rate, etc.).
For remote operations, engineers in distant locations can wear specialized gloves and view actual equipment via AR (Augmented Reality) screens, allowing them to monitor and respond to equipment issues from afar. “We can replicate what robots do in our production facilities,” said General Manager Fang Tai-You. The system can also be retrofitted onto existing production equipment. According to GM Fang, the pace of automation in Taiwan’s advanced electronics industries, such as semiconductors, has significantly accelerated compared to a decade ago. The industry has an urgent need for robot-based, autonomous remote operations. Indeed, some semiconductor plants have already achieved fully unmanned operation and AI-driven management.
“Our goal is to enable manufacturing without human presence,” stated GM Fang, emphasizing that the system’s applications extend beyond electronics to other manufacturing sectors. In the future, the company plans to expand into Japan’s manufacturing market, addressing labor shortages, and is actively seeking collaboration opportunities. (Online Interview)
